So, the question I'm getting most often by FAR lately is...how are you feeling? Well, I THINK I'm starting to feel better! Yea! Of course, I don't know for sure as I'm scared to stop taking my anti-nausea medicine...whenever I do stop it is TROUBLE. But last night I realized some of my strange eating behaviors to keep nausea (and more) at bay have miraculously fallen by the wayside. CROSS YOUR FINGERS!!!!!!!!!
I updated the blog template - I was sick of the polka dots. They're cute, but hard to read. Maybe one day I'll get creative with the blog, but for now this will have to do.
Thanks everyone for always checking in on me! :)

Birthday Fun
I think I may have survived the birthday weekend...just barely! Too much fun!
Friday night Nate and I went to the Red Sox-Padres game, and thankfully the sox won that night! It was a fun game. Apparently everyone and their dog wanted to go to the games this weekend...I bought our tickets before the season started, and all I could get was park passes (standing only). The weekend sold out during spring training- crazy! We were lucky we got in at all. Here's Nate right after the big win - happy red sox fans in the background :)

Like I said, this was a POPULAR weekend to go see the padres. NOBODY left the game early. We finally got some seats...after the game was DONE. This pregnant lady is a TROOPER.

For Nate's birthday on Saturday we went to the Zoo. It was a lot of fun. Cate just wanted to see "more bambis" - who knew anyone went to the zoo to look at deer? Here's dad and daughter on the Skyfari.

When we were walking around, we saw this CRAZY sight...they were moving a leopard on a leash, just walking him down the street. They had to tell everyone not to move, etc. It was interesting - they also had a dog walking with them. Anyway, it was pretty cool. Here's the leopard peaking through to get a good look at Cate. :)

The Children's Zoo is always fun - Cate was more hesitant than ever before in the petting corral, but she had fun. I STILL have NEVER been able to get her to pose in this perfect pictures spot...little stinker. Doesn't matter what age she's been, just is determined I don't get her on film looking like a bug.

Saturday night Cate and I threw Dad a party. Cate was VERY excited to help wrap presents, coloring cards, making balloons to hang on the wall, making the cake, etc. And she sang "Happy Birthday" perfectly when the time came! It was really fun and cute preparing the party with her. Here she is with the final product!

Before the party started, every time I turned my back cate would grab a big hunk out of the birthday cake. Tricky girl. She eventually got into trouble, but it was still funny. As you can see, Cate also picked out the candles and placed them in the cake.

Here's the birthday boy!

Cate was so cute about Nate's birthday present...she REALLY wanted to get him "colors & paper" and that's it. She was super excited to give it to him. Of course, as soon as it was open she couldn't wait to get her hands on daddy's present (I left the devil eyes in there for effect).

Here she is enjoying her gift to Dad.

The Most Boring Blog Ever
Sorry that you keep visiting the most boring blog ever...I can't believe how TERRIBLE I've been at keeping this up. I have been so swamped with work lately - which is both a blessing and a curse. And of course the 'morning' sickness is still hanging around. Excuses, excuses, I know! So, I do have a few cute pictures that I can post. I will try to do that in the next few days.
Cate continues to be the best little kid ever - I can't believe how patient she is when I ignore her all day - just plays contently. I am really really lucky, I know. This morning when I got her out of bed she told me that Thumper (stuffed rabbit) and Nikki (stuffed cat) have babies in their bellies. She has also been giving all of her stuffed animals tatoos lately - can't believe the stickers we're finding everywhere!
Will get some video and pics up soon. Love to you all, near and far!

Utah Trip!
Here are a few shots from Utah! It was a great trip...although Cate caught a stomach virus, my morning sickness started and then I caught the stomach virus. It sure was nice having all the family around to help! So glad that my parents AND Nate's parents were visiting Utah as well...it was great fun telling everyone in person we are pregnant! Thanks to everyone for a great trip!
After Abby's birthday party, Cate and Abby enjoy some giant lollypops!

Here they are "sharing"

While we were in Provo, Cuyler's brother lent us PlayStation II so we could play Guitar Hero II. EVERYONE got into it. Here's Nate's parents:

And my parents:

And Cate and Abby jamming together...

My brother is graduating from BYU in June...so we celebrated his graduation. He decided not to walk in the ceremony, so we had our own ceremony, complete with speeches. Here's the grad and his lovely wife Cori!

This was Cate's favorite part of the graduation party...the big bowl of easily accessible chips.

Here she is a little drunk at the end of the party. (looks like
Debbie is passed out again...that doll is a bad influence)

This picture is actually from San Diego...my Dad drove down to San Diego from Utah with Cate and I...thank goodness since I was sick! He stayed over a week and he and Cate were cute little beach buddies. Here they are the day he left.

Happy Easter!
Cate had fun looking for her Easter basket...

...and was quite pleased when she found it!

The Easter Bunny brought her these very stylish slippers.

Here she is in her fancy Easter dress! Great-Grammy McCarthy also sent out an Easter dress that she can't wait to wear...will have to get pictures of that one as well! :)

Artistic Genius?
I know, I know, everyone thinks their child's a genius. But seriously, we may have the next great artist of the 21st century on our hands.
so the other night, cate brought this drawing in to show me. before she said anything I thought, this is crazy - this looks like she's trying to actually draw something. then, as if on cue, she says "it's a fish, mommy" - not only did she draw an object, but it actually looks like a fish, maybe a bit abstract but a fish nonetheless. (the circle on the right is also a fish, just a little less defined - I just didn't realize it at the time)

well, the pad of paper the drew it on is a mystery pad - we have no idea where it came from. so, I thought MAYBE some other kid drew it, but cate said she drew it. so we asked her to draw a fish, and she did a circle with the lines inside. definitely the same style. so, here are more samples of her fish. this is not a fluke. I know all kids eventually draw objects, but I think this is earlier than most, at least from what I read online. she has always LOVED coloring so it will be interesting to see if she does turn into an artist-type one day! here are a few more samples... anything that's a circle with little lines in it is a fish according to cate. :)

She had a bag of Goldfish with her on our errands that day. perhaps this was her muse?!

Happy Easter Eve
I have been terrible lately about posting! Nate was out of town for a week and I've had so much work lately. Here are some fun stories and pictures.
Monday Cate and I went to The Wild Animal Park. Here she is in the petting corral. She wasn't big on petting the animals, but she LOVED feeding them.

Cate's hair is long enough for a ponytail now! She's seriously growing too fast. I can't believe how much she talks. She was so good the week Nate was gone - everything went really well.
Cate recently has taken greater interest in dressing herself. It's not all the time, but it's starting and usually involves a strong preference for a particular pair of socks, usually the brightest ones she has.

Last Saturday a little boy in our neighborhood named Jimmy had his 3-year birthday party. Cate had a blast and especially loved her goodie bag with cool little toys. The party was quite long and she was EXHAUSTED. She started melting down on the way back and about halfway back to our place just laid down in the middle of the sidewalk. She would sob and put her face on the ground, then roll over on her side and suck her thumb, then cry some more. All I could do was laugh - it was seriously so funny. When we got home she just laid on the floor for a while.

About 2 weeks ago Cate was sitting in her highchair. We were in the kicthen getting food ready. Then we heard, "OH.... (long pause).... MY.... (long pause).... GOODNESS." The drama.
