when I was pregnant with cate we went to disneyland with my cousin jamie. nate had never been, so we forced him to do all the classic rides like "it's a small world." when we first entered "small world" we were laughing about how it would stink if you got stuck in that ride, that the song could really make you go crazy, playing over and over like that...like that curb your enthusiasm episode where cheri oteri plays the crazy nanny who used to work at the warner brothers theme park and SNAPS when she hears the song on tv and tries to kill suzie. okay, back to MY story...so, when the ride was ALMOST done the boats stopped. we could see sunlight. I'm not kidding. they wouldn't let us walk out, so we sat there forever while they fixed the ride, listening to that "charming" song play over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. eventually they turned the music off, but that was almost creepier. all the little "children" just kept on moving. scary. and hilarious. but scary.
okay, so the point is...I never thought I would be able to listen to that song again (you know, possible "snappage" could occur). I recently got cate a disney CD and it has that song on it. now I love it when it comes on...she totally sings along (oh, that reminds me, cate says "totally" all the time now)...even when it's in another language. it's SO STINKIN' CUTE. she'll even say, "mommy it's in another language" then proceed to sing along. she's pretty good for having no idea what she's saying.
bottom line. now I love the song. WELL...when my daughter is singing it, at least.
oh - by the way - I did ask the teacup ride operators if they go crazy b/c of THAT music (it's WAY worse than small world). they said the workers rotate every 30 minutes so they don't. SO FUNNY.
